Self Preservation
This area has two main facets; one is physical preservation through effective self defense and two, through self discipline.
Self Defense
Self defense is a necessary skill for the modern day. Our program has the some of the most effective techniques ever devised for quickly providing a solution for any situation. We focus on awareness, avoidance, and action when necessary in our base approach to teaching defensive techniques. Kajukenbo translated means “through this fist style, you will achieve long life and happiness”. Our mixture of Chinese Kenpo and Emperado Method Kajukenbo provide a means to achieve this long life and happiness by making sure you have what you need if confronted with a situation that calls for self defense. Having these assets when in a situation is a tremendous resource for protecting yourself and your family.
Self Discipline
Training in our program involves many steps and progressions. As one advances, at their own pace, the feeling of accomplishment comes with added confidence. This is especially beneficial for children who may not be very confident in the first place. An increase in self confidence for kids (as well as adults) will have a cross over effect in other areas of life such as in other sports and general self esteem. Other challenges in life, both physical and mental, will be met with much less fear.
Of significance to parents is that children will generally become more disciplined from the unique formalities of our program. This is one benefit that is often lacking in other sports. Former 'problem' kids with bad attitudes could become well behaved and respectful as a result of participating in a Griffin’s program. Respect is something that all instructors place great importance in during their classes. Griffin program kids are often very well behaved children no matter what social or economic backgrounds they come from.
Such a curriculum of self discipline provides for a focus point of becoming a stronger individual in all areas of mind, body and spirit which allows the student to make better life decisions.
